Dowtherm Q liquid phase heat transfer fluid is designed for use as an alternative to hot oils from -30 °F to 625 °F.
DOWTHERM Q is a mixture of diphenylethane and alkylated aromatics. This liquid phase heat transfer material is intended for use as an alternative to hot oils in heat transfer systems. The application range of Dowtherm Q is -30 °F to 625 °F. DOWTHERM Q heat transfer fluid exhibits better thermal stability than hot oils; this becomes particularly noticeable as one approaches the upper end of hot oils’ use ranges at temperatures above 500 °F. The low-temperature pumpability of DOWTHERM Q heat transfer fluid is much better than that of a typical hot oil.
Throughout its temperature operating range, the low viscosity of DOWTHERM Q heat transfer fluid contributes to heat transfer efficiency. Dowtherm Q exhibits a film coefficient at 600 °F that is 42% higher than a standard hot oil. DOWTHERM Q heat transfer fluid is noncorrosive to common metals and alloys; this assures compatibility with most heat transfer systems and their respective materials of construction.
